By harvesting and marketing "the lost forest of the Amazon", EcoWood Ltd. is meeting world demand for wood products while saving the living tropical forest for the benefit of future generations. Wood distributed by EcoWood Ltd. bears certification that it was obtained by environmentally friendly methods without destroying or damaging living forest; that each tree's recovery saved at least thirty additional trees and a portion of it's purchase price went to preserving additional forest.

EcoWood is recovering lost and abandoned logs from the depths of the Amazon River as the licensee of Rainforest Preservation Foundation in Brazil. Fundamazon, as it is called in that country, is a non-profit organization that purchases and preserves large tracts of rainforest. Fundamazon has been certified and licensed by the Brazilian Government to clear these logs from waterways in the Amazon area. .
EcoWood Ltd. is dedicated to the retrieval of this valuable and heretofore wasted asset, conservatively estimated to be at least 9.4 billion board feet of easily recoverable first grade lumber. We therefore can meet the world's demand for these beautiful and unique woods and at the same time preserve the standing forest. We are also creating jobs and putting people back to work without destroying the habitat of untold and undiscovered creatures.
A joint test conducted by EcoWood and Fundamazon earlier this year had a threefold purpose.
To determine the feasibility of retrieving the sunken logs.
To determine if the logs recovered from tropical waters would yield exportable grade lumber, as is the case in temperate and northern climates.
To determine if the infrastructure was in place to support commercial log retrieval operations.
The equipment utilized in the test was obtained locally as was all personnel including the crane operator and dive crew. The test was an unqualified success in all areas. Even working with a crew that had not worked together before we were able to recover ten logs for every hour of operation. Recovered logs were sawn locally and yeilded export grade lumber.

Thanks now to the Oasis Foundation, a good portion of the lumber will be used to construct modular housing kits. These kits will be constructed by local Brazilian laborers and made ready for distribution to mission projects throughout the world. The EcoWood project makes humanitarian housing a reality in Brazil and abroad while helping to guard against deforestation.
